Hello there. This is my story.

every time i listen to ‘all too well’ by taytay, i revert back to my younger self and i’m full of angst. i feel so bad for her younger self and i remember how broken hearted i felt…

I am sorry to learn of the death of your father. My heart goes out to you in your loss. My hope is that your grief will gradually be replaced by warm memories of special times spent together.

I had a great day yesterday! When I get a birthday wish from a friend or family it gives me the opportunity to think about that person and to know that they had thought of me. That’s a really great feeling! I thought of each one of you yesterday. Thank you!

“The things that make you cringe are usually the things worth sharing, because they can help others feel less alone. … Little humiliations can bring people together, if we let them. The ridiculous in me honors the ridiculous in you.”

three years later. less than that, really.

they went back to the hospital that refused her - the one that could possibly give her the best treatment available.

the maybe place, the what if, the could have…

they went back because the doctor wanted her to be admitted but the hospital wouldn’t admit her via transfer. they asked to change the policy. it was ridiculous they couldn’t take a transfer patient. rather, you had to discharge against orders of your first hospital and then come into the second hospital via ER. yes, please make an oncology patient do all that – the hard way. of course they couldn’t do that to her. she was already unwell and to endure that hardship even more was fucked up.

they went back last month to talk to the hospital about their intake process. the director gave apologies about this happening but wouldn’t budge on changing the policy. “policy is policy.”

but when they asked “what if this was your wife/family/someone you loved? what would you want the hospital to do?”

they answered “i’d want the policy to change. i’d want her to be able to get that care.”

they still didn’t change the policy.

wow.
